Story
A couple of months ago I had an idea about running a tombola at school to raise money for breast cancer - Here is how it began - with an email to small businesses via Instagram:
Dear ….
My name is Amelia Ellis, I am 10 years old. My Mum follows you on Instagram.
My mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last February. Luckily due to all the treatments out there, my Mum after having chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy is now cured.
I would like to know if you would be at all interested in donating a prize (no matter how big or small) for the tombola I am going to do at school (Westonbirt Prep School, near Tetbury) after half term, in aid of the charity Breast Cancer Now. I thought it would be nice for the children to be able to win a prize to then give to their mums, as a present but also as an awareness to Breast Cancer. All the money raised from selling the tickets will go to Breast Cancer Now which is a magnificent charity because they research new medicines to cure more people like my mum.
If you are willing to donate a prize then please let me know and I can give you my address.
Thank you very much,
Kind regards,
Amelia Ellis
