John and I have decided to take on a triple challenge for the Summer of 2014....This will involve completing The Alnwick 14 mile coastal run, Tough Mudder Yorkshire 12 miles/24 obstacles and The Scottish Half Marathon!

There is a really really good reason that we are passionate about. We hope to raise funds for a fantastic charity SANDS Lothians, who provide support to bereaved parents who have experienced the loss of a baby.

Now for the personal bit....and not something many people know. I lost a baby, a wee boy Paddy at the six month stage of pregnancy seven years ago. It was a horrific time, one of shock, trauma and above all else deep loss that never leaves me. Nothing could have prepared me for the impact this has had on me and at the time there was no help offered, no support, no professional advice, nothing. I got by with the fantastic support of family and close friends but looking back I most definitely needed professional guidance and support on how to deal with this major life event. 

I wish I had known about SANDS Lothians as I know first hand of the fantastic support they have given to a friend of mine and John and other Mum's and Dad's out there that have been in this devastating position. I want no parents to go through such a time without the support of such a charity and I hope by doing this challenge, it will help raise awareness that charities such as these exist specifically for this reason.
