We provide a safe haven, food & friendship to homeless & vulnerable people in the NE

Story

This January I took part in the Spine Race. An adventure race that runs along the Pennine way from the lake District to the border with Scotland. The distance is about 268 miles or 429km and the time allowed is one week.

As this was much longer (and scary) than any event I have done before I decided to fundraise for the People's Kitchen in Newcastle. A wonderful charity that provides support to homeless people in my city. I completed the race in 138 hours, finishing 23rd male! It was the hardest event I have ever done, sleeping 2 hours a day on average and with extreme conditions of rain, snow and wind.

About the charity

We are a non judgemental charity. We serve 250-300 hot meals a day, 365 days a year. We also provide clothing and bathroom facilities. We are 100% volunteer led & we receive no government funding. We rely on the generosity of the public to be able to support those less fortunate than ourselves.
