We urgently need your help to fund a portable echo machine for children at University Hospital Southampton.
The need for vital echocardiograms for children is rising. University Hospital Southampton already performs over 3,700 inpatient echoes a year, and 4,250 on children in other clinics. But some of the echo machines are old and hard to move quickly, leading to slower diagnoses and delays in treatment.
The latest echo machines are highly portable – about the size of a laptop. They can be easily taken to a patient’s bedside, and set up quickly, which could be crucial in an emergency, and increase the chances of a child’s survival.
The children’s cardiac unit urgently needs a portable ECHO machine. Having this state-of-the-art technology can make a huge difference to saving young lives. It means that children will receive quicker, better results, helping them and their families cope with the anxiety of living with a life-threatening condition.
But we need your help. You can make a big difference to young heart patient’s lives by helping us fund this vital machine today.
Lisa Carr knows the
difference ECHO’s have made to her family. Her son Jacob was born with a
congenital heart condition. “The cardiac echoes have been an essential part of
Jacob’s treatment and they continue to play a vital role in his ongoing care.”
The cost of the equipment is £49,631. Please help us provide University Hospital Southampton with this equipment by donating today.
