Story
Mid-march we announced the passing of life-long BHRFC supporter Steven Eade aka “Leaky”.
Leaky was a very decent player in the 70s and 80s but also a passionate supporter. Many will remember him watching on the sidelines come rain or shine and often he would be our only supporter, especially when the weather was particularly grim.
He was a very likeable character, always smiling and laughing. He took a joke as well as he could give it and trust me – he took a lot especially when it was his turn to buy a round! Leaky was hugely influential in keeping many members playing at the club his and remember his support and friendship over many years. We have very fond memories. A club man. A good egg.
4 years ago Leaky was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and it was for this reason we ran two charity matches for the Alzheimer’s Society, raising over £3,000. We last saw Leaky at the club during one of those matches where, despite his illness, he recognised so many old friends which brought him great joy. Tonight and for the rest of the season we continue to raise money for this incredible cause. We miss you Leaky but your memory carries on.
