Story

I decided to take part in several events to raise some money for St Luke's Hospice which helped so much when our family and my father most needed help. We remain eternally grateful.

The full list completed:

18th Feb 2018 - St Luke's Test track 10 miler

4th Mar 2018 - The Vitality Big Half Marathon

18th Mar 2018 - Maidstone Road Half Marathon

5th-6th May 2018 - 16.5 miles of Trail Running (Pentland Hills; Aberfoyle to Callender).

20th May 2018 - Hackney Half Marathon

10th June 2018 - Jersey Half Marathon

5th August 2018 - The Three Peaks Challenge (20 miles of trek of the highest peak in each of Wales, England and Scotland).

4th November 2018 - Golden Gate Half Marathon in San Francisco

1st December 2018 - Angkor Wat Half Marathon in Cambodia

20th January 2019 - Funchal Marathon in Madeira

More than 150 miles of activity done, involving blood, sweat and tears. During the last few miles of the Funchal Marathon, where Dad enjoyed so many afternoons over the years, I remembered one of his famous lines: 'you've started so you'll finish'. Thanks Dad for everything !

Thanks also to those who helped, challenged and donated to the cause. And thanks to Kerry at St Luke's for all of the encouragement along the way.

A little note to highlight what St Luke's Hospice does. In the time Dad was at home, he was visited by 43 nurses who helped in a way which our family could not. The nurses also advised, comforted and consoled us along the way. Dad got a kiss from most of the nurses and continued to entertain us even when in great distress.

The hospice starts each year facing a running cost of 5.5m GBP, so the generosity which we are giving here goes some way to contributing to their efforts to provide people with life-threatening illness as comfortable life as possible.

Please help spread the word. Thanks again,

Pete Andrade
