ABOUT HERO RIDE - Sunday 8 June 2014
Last year saw the inaugural Hero Ride with over 1000 riders, cycling into London from all over the UK and Europe. This year, we hope to make Hero Ride 2014 an even bigger success. We have organised rides coming in from Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff and our Recovery Centre Tedworth House in Wiltshire, as well as a ride from Brussels to Paris.
All the rides join together at Blackheath Common on Sunday 8 June, where over 1000 people will come together to ride into central London, stopping at the Cenotaph to pay our respects and finishing up on Horse Guards Parade in the formation of the Help for Heroes medal.
Well over 10,000 British men and women injured in the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and Combat Stress estimate that 40,000 Servicemen and women will suffer from some form of invisible injury over the coming years, which is why it is so important for Hero Ride to raise so much money to help with their continued support.
Wounded riders are taking part in Hero ride which is part of what makes it so special. We ride together, to show our support in recognition of the sacrifices that they have made and crucially, through our fundraising we join together to raise as much money to support their recovery for life.
