Fundraising for Rape And Sexual Abuse Support Centre
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For anyone who knows me, I am sure you know what a massive challenge running is for me ..... but I am determined to train and work hard in order to raise money for a very important charity.
The system is failing victims, and without charities such as Rape Crisis, many people would not get the support and help they need when they most need it.
Established since 1985, Rape Crisis South London is a fully independent organisation based in Croydon providing a high standard of professional support to female survivors of sexual violence living anywhere South of the river Thames in addition to providing national support to women living anywhere in England and Wales through the National Rape Crisis Helpline.
Currently the Rape Crisis National Helpline, run by Rape Crisis South London, receives no dedicated national funding.
Their services include:
• Face to face therapy of up to 12months with qualified, sexual violence specialist therapists.
• Group therapy, Self Esteem Workshops, Group for parents, partners & friends of survivors.
• National Rape Crisis Helpline open every day of the year.
• Independent Sexual Violence Advocates (ISVA's) for survivor's going through or thinking about going through the Criminal Justice System in any South London borough.
• Information & Guidance to professionals, survivors, partners, friends & family of survivors.
• Prevention work in schools on sexual consent, self-esteem, gender and sexualisation.
• Training to professionals working with survivors including social workers, GP's, counsellors.
• Outreach Service for women in prostitution based in Wandsworth.
• Feminist self-defence, working in partnership with the London Centre for Personal Safety.
• Independent Domestic Violence Advocates based at the Family Justice Centre in Croydon.
