My name is Bethany, I am a newly qualified nurse and In August 2015 I will be raising money for the Cavell Nurses Trust (https://www.cavellnursestrust.org/) by joining 99 others in climbing the 3,363m up Mount Edith Cavell in Jasper National Park, Canada (AND I COULDN'T BE ANY MORE EXCITED!!!)

I know from my own experience that nursing is an incredibly rewarding but very challenging job. Sometimes, nurses and other health professionals need to take a turn to be looked after and Cavell nurses trust can offer that helping hand.

PLEASE, dig deep and contribute whatever you can to this wonderful cause, to help the devoted health professionals we are privileged to have in our health care system when they need it most.

A little background.... 

Edith Cavell was a nurse during the first world war in Belgium who devotedly nursed injured soldiers regardless of which side they were from but was sentenced to death for helping 200 allied soldiers escape. In response to her death, public appeals were started and money was raised to help the other nurses who were both mentally and physically shattered.  

It is the acts of pure kindheartedness like this that inspire me to be the best nurse that I can; helping people without any judgement.

Today, the Nurses Cavell Trust (Previously Nurses aid) honors her spirit and the actions of the public by continuing to raise money to help health professionals who need some TLC themselves. They are trying to raise 3 Million pounds by 2015 as part of their centenary appeal.
