Story
So, this is actually happening.
We are doing something a tiny bit bonkers to raise funds and awareness for the work of International Needs in the town of Buikwe Uganda. We have partnered with International Needs for a number of years and continue to support their efforts to bring safe clean water to local homes through the use of boreholes, as well as through education.
We are going to attempt to cycle 4,234 miles in a single weekend. This is the distance from Burscough to Buikwe as the crow flies.
The members of the Uganda 2020 team will be based at Burscough Sports Centre on exercise bikes. As well as this, we are also encouraging members of our church and local community to get out and cycle that weekend. Individuals can donate their miles cycled during the weekend towards our goal of 4,234 miles.
We plan to organise a number of events for people to join in with, these will be suitable for a range of ages and abilities:
- a 1 mile circuit around a field for children on balance bikes
- a Youth ride for ages 10+ who are up for challenging themselves, approximately 15 miles along the canal and quiet road.
- a road ride of around 50 miles
- a competition to see who can cover the greatest distance in a 10 minute sprint on an exercise bike
Note - dates, times and sign up details for these individual events are publicised on our Facebook page:
