We offer support, advice and information to UK families affected by retinoblastoma

Story

My son, Chris's godson, Walter has cancer. He's currently undergoing treatment for Retinablastoma, a rare genetic cancer that effects the retina, the light-detecting tissue of the eye. His treatment is going very well and we are really hopeful of a good prognosis. If I had of got this disease as a child I would almost certainly be blind, if one of my parents had of got it they would of been very lucky to survive. If it wasn't for the research and awareness provided by charities like The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust  the outcome would of been much worse.

As a parent in this situation I feel as tough as everything has been over the past few months I owe something to the wonderful people who have made a horrible time as good as it could be. It's because of this my best friend Chris and I plan to run the Wainwright coast to coast from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay in Yorkshire , about 190 miles, in June 2013. Our aim is to complete it over 35 hours in 7 days.

Thanks a lot Billy and Chris
