Story

🔱2019 Race to the Kings🔱

Race to the Kings (RTTK) on the 22nd June is going to be my biggest challenge to date. A double marathon! I've been working hard over the past 2 years completing 6 marathons and one ultra marathon to build towards this event. RTTK is going to be hard day on so many levels.... 1. its a bloody long way.... And 2. its very close to Bobby's Birthday. All things being well, my friend Matt is going to be running with me, with Phil and girls supporting along the way. Fingers crossed for good weather and no cows 🐄.

Sands continue to raise vital funds to STOP babies dying and tearing lives apart so please give what you can to an incredible charity. Thank you, love Geri, Phil, Abigail and Ellie ❤️

2017 Update:

So it's marathon time! I've entered the Brighton Marathon - on the 9th April - my first ever attempt at the 26 mile distance….. I've come a long way since my first 10K in 2013. Running is now a big part of my life and has brought me many new friends, keeps me fit and sane (well sort of!). Running for Sands is what started it all; I think about Bobby most when I run and he gives me strength when I don't think i can go on.

The work Sands that do in terms of research to prevent stillbirths,  the training for midwives as well as the support they give bereaved parents is essential. No one should have to go through what Phil and I have endured. Please Please donate what ever you can, its all appreciated.

2015 Update:

This year I'm planning 3 challenges to raise money for Sands:

  1. 23rd August Henfield Half;
  2. 13th September the Great North Run (Half); and
  3. 11th October The Royal Parks Half Marathon.

Please please give what you can to this amazing charity.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me in the British 10k! Ran it (last Sunday) in 58 mins which I was happy with given the weather, 32oC! We've raised £1,170.00! :-)

2013 Update:

This year it's my turn to help raise some desperately needed funds for Sands. I will be running the British 10k on the 14th July in London. Bobby should be turning 2 this year and the 28th of June will be as hard as ever. Please give what you can to this special charity.

2012 Update:

We can't promise to do something every year but for 2012 the main event will be to run the Great South Run (10 miles on the 28th October). Please can we ask you to dig deep to raise funds for what we believe is invaluable research into why so many people have to suffer the unfortunate torture of losing their babies either before birth or soon after (17 per day). Please also wish me luck, Cheers Phil. On behalf of Geri, Abi-Rose, and always for Bobby.

This page is dedicated to our son Bobby who was born sleeping on the 28 June 2011 at 09.18am; he weighed 7lb 9oz, and was perfect in every way. We had a wonderful pregnancy right up to our 39 week together. Bobby will always be part of our family, always loved, and forever missed.

Sands is a charity dedicated to raising funds which facilitate the necessary research and improvements in practice which could save babies' lives.

Almost one in every 100 births in the UK results in the stillbirth or death of a baby in the early weeks of life.

No one speaks of still birth and everyone thinks it will not happen to them; and despite reading all the right books and doing all the right things during our pregnancy, our baby Bobby died. No one should have to go through what Phil and I have endured. We were amazed to find out that the medical profession do not fully understand pregnancy and that in 50% of all still births no cause of death can be concluded. I personally find this totally unacceptable. This is why we would like to raise all we can for Sands.

Many thanks in advance

Phil and Geri
