We protect and conserve the natural world to create better lives for animals in it

Story

Having seen the affects COVID-19 has had on the zoos and the wildlife parks in the U.K, I have decided to try and raise money to help the animals who live there. It’s for an extremely worthy cause and one that is close to my heart. I understand that zoos will be opening from Monday 15th June, but this will be with a limited capacity. Plus, the parks are still needing support to feed the animals and to keep them alive after such uncertain times.

To raise money for the animals at both parks, my aim is to cycle the full length of the UK in just seven days (that’s 1,407 km in just seven days). To reduce the cost of my fundraiser and also because of COVID-19, I will be cycling a 201km route from my house each day, and then I will be returning to my house.  I will be cycling around 9 hours a day and burning on average 4,500 calories per ride so plenty of food will be consumed 🙋🏽‍♂️

I will be partaking in my challenge from the 24th June 2020, to 30th June 2020. I have committed to the challenge in this week as I was meant to be on holiday, but for obvious reasons it was cancelled. Plus, there’s no chance I’d be able to commit to this challenge alongside working my full time job.

I’d love you all to bear in mind I only started cycling last year as a result of me snapping my ACL last summer. It was the only form of exercise I could take part in at the time but I have grown to love it and I have found some amazing routes round Yorkshire. This year, I have managed to accomplish my longest bike ride - 166km in just one day. Apart from that, I have managed to complete a maximum of 100km and 120km on my bike in just one day. So, it’s safe to say cycling 201km in a day will be my longest and most challenging bike ride yet... Not to mention I’m going to be cycling this distance for seven days in a row to raise money for the animals. And I am committed to completing this challenge.

This is certainly going to hard for me, physically and mentally, but I am committed and the challenge is for an amazing cause. I’d love absolutely any support whether that is 50p, or £50. I will be grateful for any donation. Thank you so much and wish me luck!
