I worked for this amazing charity, based here in Yorkshire, called City Hearts!  They help with victims of human trafficking and modern day slavery.  Loving people back to life and taking care of them.  It's amazing to see the impact City Hearts have had on so many people's lives.

Through doing the Yorkshire half marathon I'm looking to raise £200 for City Hearts.  Here's a little bit more about what they do:


"As part of the National Referral Mechanism, we work with the Salvation Army, the Police, Social Services, the UK Human Trafficking Centre and other national organizations, to provide a safe refuge and immediate care for men, women and families who have been rescued from modern day slavery.

We run a holistic programme giving individual care to each survivor, providing a wide range of short term specialist support, helping them begin the journey of overcoming their trauma, and providing them with a safe place to decide their next steps."

Scarily, modern day slavery still exists. 

An estimated 30 million people are said to still be in slavery - that's over 1 in 300 people.

Having met some of the incredible people City Hearts has helped to restore and rebuild their lives, and having heard some of their stories, I have decided to try and raise a good sum of money so that City Hearts can carry on doing the outstanding and unfortunately totally necessary work that they are doing.
