5k May Fundraiser 2022
Campaign by Doctors in Distress (RCN England & Wales #1184953, Scotland #SC049715)
We're doing a 5k in May fundraiser throughout the month of May 2022. Join us and help support the mental health of our incredible healthcare workers in the UK!

Story

Two years ago the country was united in its applause for
healthcare workers who were dealing with the first wave of the pandemic.

As we adjust to living with COVID-19, it’s easy to forget the effect that it has had on healthcare workers, many of whom were already working under conditions of great stress.

Burnout and suicide rates are much higher in doctors than in the general population and currently, one doctor takes their life every three weeks in the UK.

‘Doctors In Distress’ was set up to provide much-needed mental health support for healthcare professionals. The charity provides confidential support groups facilitated by trained professionals.  They also run support groups for staff with Long-COVID, including the Restore Project, which uses creativity as a way of promoting recovery.

So this May, I’ll be running 5km a day to raise money to support
the work of Doctors In Distress.

That’s a total of 155km in a month or 3.5 marathons!

For someone who, up until 2019, had never run 5km in his
life, this is a big challenge.

So, please sponsor me in the knowledge that every kilometre I run will fund vital work to support those people who supported us throughout the pandemic.

Thank You.
