Fundraising for Guts UK Charity

Our family and close friends are supporting the research work of Core in memory of our beautiful daughter, sister, mummy, auntie and friend, Briony Daniels, who suffered with severe necrotizing acute pancreatitis due to gallstones caused in pregnancy in September 2016. Briony lost her battle after suffering with pancreatitis at the end of October 2016 at just 24 years of age. This tragedy has another cruel twist because Briony had also become a proud mummy last year, giving birth to her gorgeous son in August 2016.
We would like to raise awareness about pancreatitis as little is known about Pancreatitis and why it can cause major illness. Little is known why some individuals are more susceptible than others and nothing yet has been found to switch off inflammation of the pancreas once it has started. This inflammation can then affect other organs as well. Specific research is needed into exactly how the inflammation is triggered in the pancreas cells with further research required to investigate the best way of treating any complications that occur, as well as preventing these complications if possible.
Core is committed to fighting all digestive diseases and receive no government funding for any of their work. Digestive diseases are conditions that affect the gut, liver and pancreas. Collectively they are a factor in 1 in 8 deaths in the UK. Core supports medical research to save lives.
We know that we can’t bring Briony back so please help us to support this charity in any way you can and support core for their vital research in her name.
