In 1969 Slimming World was born from the vision of our founding director, Margaret Miles Bramwell and over the last 50 years (alongside helping people lose weight for life) we have helped numerous charities via all different events. We call this SMILES -

Slimmers Making It a Little Easier for Someone

And we love what we do. 10 years ago I was just a standard member when my Consultant talked about Miles for Smiles, 40 miles to mark our 40th birthday and, me being me, I signed up for the challenge. Over 15 hours later I hobbled back home after completing the challenge only to find out that I didn't have to do it all in one day!!

Fast forward 10 years and here I am, 10 years older, a Slimming World Consultant and our 50th Birthday is looming. Now, we could walk 2 miles every day over the space of the month, we could cycle it or even swim it BUT Big birthdays deserve EPIC challenges and an AMAZING charity so.............

Sunday 18th August, 1 month from today, I'm embarking on a 50 mile walk, IN ONE DAY!!

Throughout the day my members will be joining and walking alongside me, mile after mile in the bid to Make It a Little Easier for Someone

Now the important part, the charity!! Having listened to the work being carried out by this charity we really wanted to help make a difference in the same way Northern Ireland Hospice makes a difference in the lives of our community.  Read their mission below

Northern Ireland Hospice is a local charity caring for local people.

Northern Ireland Hospice is a local charity offering specialist respite, symptom management and end of life ‘palliative’ care to over 4,000 infants, children and adults each year across Northern Ireland.

From specialist nursing care in the home to care in our Hospices, our mission is to ensure that all those who need our care have access to it, where and when they need it and whatever the patient’s circumstances, age, disease or culture. We care for people with cancer, COPD, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Dementia and other illnesses living in Northern Ireland.

Our team of specially trained healthcare professionals are made up of nurses, doctors, social workers, chaplains, occupational therapists, creative therapists and physiotherapists, all of whom, work together to support our patients’ physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Our work also extends to families, enabling us to offer guidance and support to family members as they travel the journey with their loved one.

Please help us make a difference xx
