Story
Hi, This will be my 10th year taking part in this fantastic event. It is an open water swim (no wetsuit) of 4.7 miles around the iconic Brownsea Island.
This year will be different from previous, because we have had such a hot summer I am not dreading the cold water (it's still chilly at 16c when you've been in it for 2hrs). However it is still a challenge..saltwater is abrasive, seaweed in the mouth is unpleasant, and its generally quite choppy in places...and it is a long way!
All the previous years have been done for Macmillan Caring Locally, a great charity. This year, probably my last year for doing this event, I have decided to raise money for the charity behind this event...RLSS Poole Lifeguard, who provide voluntary beach and coastal life guard services around the area of Poole. They have been saving lives since 1975 and are dependent on charity contributions.
If you can spare a few coppers (or preferably plastic) please make a donation. No donation is too small (or too large)
Thanks
