Story

World Suicide Prevention Day is on Friday 10th September 2021.

With this in mind I have challenged myself to run the Goggins 4x4x48 challenge in the days leading up to this. 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours.

Raising awareness and reducing the taboo around suicide and those bereaved through suicide is key for me, especially given my current work for the Jacob Abraham Foundation.

The foundation was set up after the death of our Jacob in October 2015; he was aged 24 and took his own life through suicide. His death deeply shocked our family and the local community raising questions about the complexities of mental health in young people particularly as Jacob presented as happy go lucky young man who was popular, funny, athletic, handsome and with a family who loved him dearly.

They aim to raise awareness in mental health and in doing so reduce the stigma, and encourage open conversations about mental health. The foundation would like to ensure that young people know who to speak to about their concerns, which could prevent them feeling that suicide is their only option.

Feel free to suggest a song for my running playlist in the comments too!!
