Story
On Friday 13th June 2014 at 0410hrs I set off from Skipton in North Yorkshire with 5 friends intending to cycle 230 miles (371 KM) to a village north of Bath, Somerset.
The conditions were perfect if a little warm, with thunderstorms forecast for later in the day.
The first big test was the ascent of the infamous Holme Moss on the border of Yorkshire and Derbyshire, 50 miles into our route. After this the route would be relatively flat! Or so we thought!
To be honest the middle part of the route is now just a blur.
The last 25 miles were very wet! We encountered a massive thunderstorm which was very impressive to watch but a little worrying to cycling in.
After 15 hours, 7 minutes and 232 miles of riding we finally arrived at our destination.
Stats:
6 Blokes, 232 miles, 375 KM, over 9000 ft of climbing (= 2 x Ben Nevis), 2 Broken Wheels, One crash at 231 mile point (not me I hasten to add!), Zero punctures!
Thanks for your donations to a great cause!
Best Regards,
Burty
