I am a committed carnivore. I LOVE cheese! Giving up meat, fish, dairy & eggs for 31 days is going to be tough. But it is nothing compared with what my little nephew Max & his family have to cope with every day.

Please support me to raise money towards finding a cure for Cystinosis. My lovely, four year old nephew Max, suffers from this extremely rare genetic disease. He also suffers from Franconi Syndrome- a genetic defect of the kidney, caused by Cystinosis- a condition that damages the organs with no known cure.

Cystinosis is caused by the body producing a build-up of an amino acid, cystine, which causes crystals to develop. These crystals then form on the kidneys and eyes, and can later spread to the muscles, pancreas, thyroid gland and white blood cells.

It prevents body cells from functioning properly & will result in Max needing a kidney transplant in the future. Only 2 or 3 new cases of Cystinosis are diagnosed each year in the UK. Research into a cure is funded solely through charitable donations.

Max is such a brave, beautiful, little boy. He has to endure a constant battle fighting this disease. He takes 30plus doses of medicine every 4-6 hours- day & night. One of which is cystagon which smells and tastes disgusting but this medicine is keeping him alive. He is peg fed through the night. He's often nauseous. He has an excessive thirst and struggles to keep food down. He also has an extremely weak immune system. The poor little mite has been really poorly over the Christmas holiday- but he never stops smiling. I love you Max.
