Story
As some of you know, we recently lost our beloved John Ahearne on 6th June, 2 years after he was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer at just 35 years old. I personally had never even heard of this cancer until May 2019 when it turned our lives upside down. More research needs to be done to improve the outcome of this terrible cancer, which is why I am running the 2021 Virtual Dublin marathon in memory of Johnny, and to raise some vital funds for the Oesophageal Cancer Fund. Any donation is much appreciated.
This will be marathon number 8 for me, but the first time running in Ireland and the first time running for a cause. I had hoped to be running the streets of Dublin, but instead it will be 42km of the Waterford Greenway this year. Johnny would usually be cheering me on around the 30km mark, and even did so at my last marathon in October 2019 while he was undergoing chemo.
