Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Lisa Tavinor and I are taking on this open water swim to challenge ourselves, have some fun and raise awareness and money for PIP. A charity our friend Simon Priestley supported and was fundraising for. We want to push ourselves physically with this swim, which we're both a bit scared of, as well as to continue to raise awareness and support for this charity. Even if it means training in the Gillots wee-filled pool (someone give us free membership at Danesfield please!)
Please give what you can to support us, and join us afterwards at the Angel for drinks http://henleyswim.com/events/club-to-pub/
Since 1984 Pursuing Independent Paths (PiP), has been supporting local young adults with learning disabilities and autism to develop the skills and confidence they need to be more independent and achieve their potential.
Each year PIP’s skilled and committed staff and volunteer team engage 60 adults with learning disabilities in a broad range of education, personal development, social and health activities as well as creative art and drama projects, travel training, recreational trips and holidays. Activities are tailored to groups of adults with variable abilities and include sessions on literacy, numeracy, healthy living, cooking, art, drama, music and work skills.
There is a genuine need for PIP to ensure that adults with learning disabilities do not lose skills and become isolated from their community, but rather continue to thrive, develop and learn throughout their lives.
