We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

As some of you may or may not know, my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year.

Luckily for my dad, the cancer was discovered during relatively early stages, thanks to the results of a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigens) test.  An elevated PSA count does not always equal prostate cancer, but in my dad’s case it did, and I would strongly recommend that men consider requesting these tests.

The early diagnosis caught the cancer before it spread out of the prostate.  This meant the tumour could be removed, along with his prostate.

Whilst this was the best thing we could hope for, it is not a cure. My dad's decision to remove the prostate was not made easily, and not without serious side-effects.

Research is continuing, and cures are hopeful. Money is needed for this research.
10,000 men die from prostate cancer in the UK every year.

I will be climbing 10,000ft (three peaks challenge), jumping from 10,000ft (with my dad) and running 10,000m (cross country) to raise money for and increase awareness of an issue that I feel very strongly about.
