Story
New year, new challenge! This year, Michael and I are running Paris Marathon on 5th April. Yep, a full marathon! We are terrified and already deep in training, however our motivation to achieve this goal is built on the simple fact that we are so grateful for our health.
2019 was a pretty rocky year for us and our loved ones. My mum was diagnosed in February with Stage 4 lung and parotid gland cancer. This truly came as a bit of blow to us, especially as mum had never smoked. Seven rounds of chemo and one round of radiotherapy later and she’s still as positive as ever, despite knowing that unfortunately her cancer will never be cured.
So I’ve decided to use my health to help people who are without theirs and naturally it had to be to raise money for a cancer charity. Day in day out those charities are there for my mum where distance separates us and I am unable to be back in the midlands as much as I would like. When I told my mum I wanted to run for a cancer charity, I asked her who she would like me to run for, and she said it has to be for The Lewis Foundation. This small midlands based charity provide goodie bags for the patients in chemo wards in order to cheer them up. Mum describes it as a hug on what is always such a tough day. And so it is with great pride that I am running to be able to support them, and hopefully give more hugs to more people who are living with cancer.
I would truly appreciate any donation, no matter how small. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and learn a little more about what I’m doing. Be kind always.
