I work as a pastoral care worker at Thames Hospice and have done for nearly 4 years. Last year two dear friends of mine, Sue Evans and Carolyn Shaw, were cared for by the hospice, Sue in the inpatient unit, and Carolyn at home. I had known Sue for over 20 years, and Carolyn was a colleague at the hospice.  Not only was I friends with them, but I was privileged enough to be part of their pastoral care during their last weeks, and the medical and nursing care they received was second to none. Sadly they both passed away, in June and July respectively. I miss them very much. I am taking part in the Easter50 walk on April 10th, and will be walking 50K in their memory, to raise money to help the hospice continue its amazing compassionate care, both for inpatients, and those receiving palliative care at home.
