Story

Hi and welcome to my just giving page!

As a lot of charity events have been postponed till next year, I have decided to do my own!

Just as a brief overview, I was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth in January 2020. In February, I underwent surgery to remove half my tongue as well as a left neck dissection to remove my lymph nodes.

In September 2020, we found out that the cancer had returned. So I had a right side neck dissection in October which also saw the removal of my jugular vein as the cancer had already spread. This was followed by 6 weeks of intensive chemotherapy and 30 sessions of radiotherapy. Now it's time to give back!

I am going to do two 10k walks (one in Birmingham and one in Liverpool) to try to raise awareness and money for the department and team that saved my life, TWICE!!! The charity is the FAITEC and they help people like me, who have dealt the effects of having head and neck/oral cancer, as well as doing vast amounts of research and trials to help prevent this horrific disease. My wonderful surgeon Sat and his amazing team, are working endlessly to try to not only prevent this type of cancer, but to also minimise the terrible effects the treatment can have on individuals.

The Birmingham 10k will be held in Sheldon Country Park on Sunday 26th September at 12 noon (meet at 11.30 by the farm).
The Liverpool 10k will be held in Sefton Park on Sunday 24th October at 12 noon (meet at 11.30 by the lake near sefton Park hotel). EVERYONE is welcome to join me.

I know the last year has been extremely difficult for many and therefore i don't want anyone to feel any pressure to donate. However, if you feel you can make any contribution, no matter how small, it would be extremely appreciated!

Thank you all so much for reading this very long post and any for any contributions you feel you can make!! I hope to see you either in Birmingham in September or Liverpool in October!!
