Story

I thought it is best to update you all on our situation, more to raise awareness of this cause and help to raise money for some causes so close to our hearts.

Im sorry but this is going to come as a shock to you all as it has me, my family and close friends.

We have currently been experiencing a living nightmare for the past 7 weeks.

But I want to tell you first is we are positive, we are strong and we are brave, and this adventure will be long but we have every faith in our boy lucas and we cannot describe how incredibily brave he is and has been so far on our journey.

My little man lucas is currently seriously unwell, we are under the specialist care of Sheffield Childrens Hospital and in the best hands possible.

All I can do is thank my mothers instinct that took lucas back to a&e and caught this at the early signs.

Lucas has been diagnosised with b cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. For anyone that doesnt know in a bad situation this is the best news we could have wished to hear as cure rates are incredible and we have every hope that we will come out of this journey at the otherside stronger.

The road is long and will be hard but the way lucas has already adjusted to our new special hospital life is incredible.

Lucas is now extremely vulnerable and is undergoing intensive chemotherapy and treatment. This is at least a 2 year treatment plan and the first 6 months will be very intense and require us to be super careful to the norm we are used to and our daily life is very different as we isolate to protect our little boy. Each stage then depends on how he reacts to the one previous, so we have completed the first 4 weeks and waiting upon results to review what will happen in the next phase. The fight and determination of my boy is beyond words I can write and what we do know is that he so far appears to be responding really well.

This is our new adventure and life for a while now and we are trying our very best to keep uplifted and strong for my little boy during times he needs it the most.

I want to do anything I can to raise awareness and support the amazing charities that have been and will continue to be our saviour during the most challenging times of our lifes.

NOTHING I will do will match the bravery and strength of my little boy, but while he fights I cannot be weak and we have to stay strong. Next weekend (subject to change on Lucas’s care needs) I will embark on our many times a week journey to Sheffield Children’s Hospital by foot to mark the life saving journeys we are making every week for chemotherapy, theatre, overnight stays, day clinics, FBC…. In total amounting to 17 miles.

I first of all would like to raise money for an amazing local Children’s Cancer Charity PACT.

https://pactfriends.co.uk

I have choose this charity due the fantastic support they offered me, Alex and Lucas during his inital weeks in hospital and continue to do so during our day clinic appointments. PACT –  standing for, the Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia. For each and every family of a sick child it’s a physically, emotionally and financially exhausting journey that can last for years. Parents and carers are split between their children; ‘career’ and ‘jobs’ are put on hold for daily trips to, or long stays at hospital; and children undergo harsh treatments and miss the support and friendship of their school friends.

Put simply, PACT does whatever it can to make the journey less painful. PACT provides a range of services and facilities to help.

If you can, please donate to this amazing cause, you really will be supporting to make a different to so many children’s and families lives.

But one of the greatest gifts you can donate for free, blood, platelets and stem cell transplants are life saving for little lives fighting cancer.

Please consider becoming a blood donor https://www.blood.co.uk

Once giving blood consider joining the bone marrow register

Lucas has this . HE IS STRONG HE IS BRAVE.

We are positive but we are broken.
