Story

For me the only place to start and explain why I want to do
this is with Amy’s own honest and brave words.

"I’ve been battling poor #mentalhealth since I was 19. Becoming
a mum is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, but the every day stress of trying to keep the most precious thing safe has thrown my mental health into sharper focus. Last year I was diagnosed with #postnataldepression & in the aftermath I had my first ( & hopefully last) psychotic episode. It was the single most petrifying thing I’ve been through & will spend the rest of my days managing my mental health as best as possible to avoid going to that dark place again."

Heartbreakingly her last psychotic episode ended her life 5 days after she gave birth to my perfect nephew Dylan.

Amy was diagnosed bipolar. She was the most caring and thoughtful person in the world and despite her own mental health battles she always wanted to help other people. The reason she was so honest and wrote these blogs was to encourage other people to talk and to share how they were feeling. Ames wanted to raise awareness on mental health and fight the stigma that unfortunately comes with it.

This brings me to the reason I’m attempting to run a 10k with my extremely little legs. I’m doing this for you Sissy; to continue your heroic work you’ve done throughout your life to help others.
