Hi

I am hoping to run either (or both) the Belfast City Marathon or the equivalent distance in other smaller events this year up to May 2017. I have already registered to run a 10k for the Stroke Association at Queen's Sport in Belfast on Sunday 26 February 2017.

 Living here for almost 20 years, I have come to deeply love the people and place. I have also become very aware of the impact and legacy of the troubles on individuals and families. I want my fundraising activities to go to WAVE a charity that directly supports people in the community.

Wave Trauma Centre is a grass roots, cross community charity offering care and support to people bereaved, injured and traumatised as a result of "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland; irrespective of religious, cultural or political beliefs.

The Troubles have left a deep and indelible legacy for many individuals and families across Northern Ireland and in other areas impacted by the violence. Over 50% of new referrals to WAVE today are from people presenting with issues from incidents which occurred in the 1970's and 1980's. WAVE has received over 700 new referrals in the last year from the ages of 7 to 83.  Demand threatens to overwhelm resources and as WAVE enters the 25th year working with those who suffered most during the Troubles they are appealing for our support. 

So I would be grateful if you could help support both myself and WAVE by sponsoring me to take part in this fundraising activity.  I will share regularly on my progress as I get closer to the running events.
