Story

Dakatcha Woodland is internationally recognized as a home to globally threatened species such the endemic Golden-rumped Elephant- shrew, Clarkes Weaver, Sokoke Pipit as well as Africans smallest owl, the Sokoke Scops Owl. Despite its uniqueness, the woodland is undergoing rapid change through illegal logging, charcoal burning and pineapple plantations, which threaten the existence of its precious habitats and wildlife. Your support can help buy land to protect the woodland and its threatened species. Human activity has been one of the biggest threats to the survival of endangered nature. But it is also one the best solutions to conserve it! ASSETS (Arabuko-Sokoke Schools and Eco-Tourism Scheme) not only provides eco-bursaries, but the beneficiaries also learn to care for the creation they rely on. You can help support students through secondary school at the same time as involving them in practical nature conservation activities.
