Story
As some of you may know, I am crazy enough to have signed up to run both the virtual London Marathon on 4 October 2020 and the London Marathon taking place on 2 October 2022! Having spent fifteen months volunteering as a Legal Fellow with the International Justice Mission (IJM) in the Philippines, I am taking on this gruelling challenge to raise much-needed funds for IJM's vital work combatting modern slavery across the globe.
It is estimated that over 45 million people around the world are victims of modern slavery. That is more slaves than ever before in human history. IJM is a human rights organisation that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. It is made up of advocates, donors, investigators, social workers, lawyers and government leaders who work tirelessly to stop the modern slave trade in its tracks.
During my time supporting IJM in the Philippines, a total of 89 children (the youngest being just 6 months old) were rescued from the horrors of online sexual exploitation and 21 convictions were secured against the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. I witnessed first-hand how IJM's work is making a tremendous difference in the lives of some of the worlds most vulnerable people.
It is my sincere hope that one day there will be no need for the work of charities like IJM. Until then, we can all play our part in making a difference. Through Just Giving, your donation will be quickly processed and passed on to IJM. Just Giving will claim gift aid on IJM's behalf if you are eligible for this.
Thank you in advance for your support. I am hugely grateful.
