Story
On the 15th April 2016, my 28 year old boyfriend Joshua Peel was rushed to hospital with pancreatitis. He had three major attacks in one day and after 2 days on a normal Ward, he was sent to ICU. He stayed there for 103 days until he passed away on the 27th July.
He was diagnosed with severe acute autoimmune pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is often a poorly judged condition, with people presuming alcohol or gallstones are the cause. In Josh's case, it was neither, but instead his own genetic makeup which unfortunately led to his condition.
He was on such a roller coaster journey throughout his stay. He showed promise of recovery, but in the end, he suffered multiple organ failure after a fourth septic episode finally damaged his liver and caused a heart attack.
I have wanted to do this challenge at the Magna Science Adventure Centre and it was something Josh was going to witness. So, it only seems right that I do the challenge in his name. Pancreatitis is not very well known and I want to raise awareness of how destructive a disease it can be. Any donation is most welcome.
