Reilly and I will (jointly) be cycling a 150 mile virtual bike ride (Christine on Friday 12th June & Reilly Saturday 13th June) to help save the charity Small Steps as the planned fundraisers they had were cancelled due to covid. In brief this charity was a place we went to with Vivienne and they were incredible. They helped us emotionally and practically when every other door was shut on us. It introduced us to people whom understood the challenges that go with having a child who didn’t meet the ‘normal’ milestones and celebrated every triumph. Even with wonderful friends and family around us, it’s a lonely place not knowing the best route (other than the unhelpful wait and see we were told) and being happy and excited for everyone and their kids around you developing in a standard way whilst also being saddened and worried that those milestones may not happen for your own child and also going through a new pregnancy and keeping down a full time job 🤯These weekly sessions were utterly valuable to gain practical skills to help aid Vivienne as well as information of what help out there is available. It also introduced us to some of the strongest, most incredible people and wonderful children we have met.

My mum discovered Small Steps whilst watching Children in Need, Vivienne thrived and went from someone who only crawled to someone who can walk, run, jump and even go up/down the steps in the picture unaided. 

We know that this can be a difficult time financially for everyone, however if you can donate even a fiver we will be so so grateful, and if you can’t donate please share. We hope Small Steps can continue and help more people. They really are amazing. Xxx
