CHRISTMAS AND BEYOND…….
As you begin to think about Christmas and what it will mean for you, your family and friends, please take a moment to consider what it could mean for those in our community who have no home to go to this festive season. It’s hard to believe that in 2013 that can be true for some in this area, but it is.
The festive season can be a sad, distressing and lonely time for someone who is homeless or experiencing difficult times. Here at Aberdeen Cyrenians we know that because we have been tackling homelessness for 45 years and each Christmas we do everything we can to make this time of year more comfortable and less distressing for our services users.
One of the most important things we can offer our service users is a warm, welcoming, friendly festive environment. On a more practical level this includes opening everyday offering free meals, access to showers and laundry facilities and a Christmas gift for every service user.
Last year, the people of the North-east rallied round and supported us by donating the equivalent of £40,000 worth of Christmas goods and finance which enabled us to provide the services we wanted to, and which we think our service users deserve.
Can you help us to match, or even exceed, that total this year?
