BHF London to Brighton Bike Ride 2011 · 19 June 2011 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Hi and huge thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The inital schpeel is below but I just wanted ot say that I managed to complete the ride and huge thanks for all your support- it is really appreciated.

If you have not sponsored me yet but would like to- it is is not too late and I thank you in advance!

Ok, so the ride took absolutely ages and probably was not helped by my cycle rack coming loose,  then jamming into my breaks meaning I hit a rough patch and my tire exploded on a sharp decline.  I fixed my first puncture by the road using twigs (as I lost half my tool kit in the accident too) and very sweetly my sooper speedy team mates waited up ahead until I had caught them up.  Also did not get off my bike at Ditchling Beakon which seemed like a ridiculous (if short) hill for an amateur cyclist.

Finally getting back to Clapham Common by coach from Brighton, I realised there was no real alternative than to ride the 15K home to Muswell Hill...

For little me this was a great challenge for a great cause- thank you for making it worthwhile.

All the best,

Christos

Intial Blurb:

Ok, so I am doing the London to Brighton Bike Ride in less than a week and Christos only just set up this sponsorship page last week.  However I really do want to try to raise some money and this is the first time I have asked for sponsorship in years so pretty please do sponsor me this week if you can!

The ride is 54 miles long and I have never cycled more than the 6 miles to work (nor will I before the day).  I also found myself out of breath climbing two floors of stairs at work yesterday.  So I am really rather worried about my chances of success.. bricking it to use the appropriate medical phrase.

Why am I doing this? Because its a great cause and I have not really challenged myself physically for years.  I also turned 41 last week and lost a couple of loved family friends recently which has made me think more about getting out there and doing stuff to help.

And the cause is amazing. Someone dies of a heart attack in the UK every 6 minutes and that figure would be higher if it were not for the pioneering reseach the British Heart Foundation.

Your sponsorship will support patients and their families and also funds groundbreaking reseach that saves lives every day. I paid the entry/admin fee so all sponsorship is to the charity.

Here is the JustGiving Schpeel- Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

So please dig deep and donate now if you can.

Oh and on yer bike Michaels you big fat Greek lump!

Thank you, thank you!

Christos
