Story
Each year about 50,000 women in the UK are told that they have Breast Cancer. Just before Christmas last year my mum became one of them.
During mum’s surgery and chemotherapy treatment I have been so impressed with the medical staff who have treated her and by our friends, family and community who have helped in so many different ways.
So, in a small way, I would like to give something back, by raising some funds for Friends of the Cancer Centre, a local charity that supports cancer patients and their families, invests in cancer research and provides additional clinical care.
Inspired by the recent visit of the Giro d’Italia and the shared colours with Breast Cancer, I’ve decided to ride in the Strangford Sportive on 4th October 2014. I’m hoping to complete the 80km course, which should take me just under 4 hours.
I’ve set myself an ambitious target of raising £1,250 which is an amount that will make a big difference to the charity.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page and for any donation that you have been able to make.
Ciaran.
