Cycle to Zero Malawi 2016

Story

On 28th May, I donned my lycra and started the 400km cycle over 4 days through the Tea Plantations of the Southern Highlands of Conforzi to the heights of the astounding Zomba Plateau, finishing the ride along the shoreline of Lake Malawi at Cape Maclear, in support of mothers2mothers and its cause of empowering women to eliminate paediatric HIV. I also had the unique and humbling opportunity of visiting m2m projects along the way.

The transmission of the HIV virus from a mother to her baby is almost entirely preventable. The babies that have been born HIV negative to the 1.2 million plus women mothers2mothers has reached is proof of this.

Every little bit helps: £35 is all it costs to get a women and her baby through the program. All of your donations will go to mothers2mothers and not towards the cost of the trip.

2016 sees the 15th anniversary of mothers2mothers (m2m) and, to celebrate the 1.2 million women reached in this time, mothers2mothers Malawi was the host m2m country for our 2016 Cycle to Zero Challenge.  The valuable funds raised by the 2016 Cycle to Zero Team can help make the dream a reality; a world where no mother dies of AIDS and no baby is born with HIV.

This video gives an idea of the charity and the work they do - I encourage you to take the time to watch.
