Event: Great Wall of China Trek with Discover Adventure 2019, from 13 September 2019 to 22 September 2019
Next September, our intrepid #TeamRefuge trekkers will be taking on the iconic Great Wall of China to raise vital funds and awareness for Refuge, the UK's leading provider of specialist domestic, sexual & gender-based violence services.

Story

I'm not the fittest person you know. But I do like walking. And I've apparently lost my mind. So what better way to raise money for my favourite charity.

Snaking 6000km across China, the Great Wall passes through woodland, farmland and mountains. This trek follows the contours of the hills and mountains in remote areas north of Beijing.

We'll follow old sections of the Great Wall, as well as restored sections with lots, and lots, and lots of steps. It's 7 days of walking, up to 8 hours a day

It will be physically very demanding for me, but should offer some decent views for the instagram, right?

Refuge means a lot to me.

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner.

Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

By sponsoring me on this absurd mission, you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.

Thank you.
