Story
Hello – my name is Oscar Allaker.
I am 8 years old and I was born almost 6 weeks premature along with my healthy twin sister Amelie. I spent the first 6 months of my life in NICU.
I have an extremely rare chromosome deletion. In fact I am one of only four known cases in the world with this condition. I will never be able to walk or talk and I have very little understanding of the world around me; I will always need 1 to 1 care.
I also have the added complication of being diagnosed with an incurable interstitial lung disease along with a compromised immune system. This leaves me highly susceptible to coughs and colds, especially through the winter months. I have been hospitalised many times with pueumonia.
As part of my condition, I also suffer with curvature of the spine and will require corrective spinal surgery in the near future.
Due to my medical conditions I am under the care of no less than 8 different consultants at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
As my life presents many challenges, I am in need of specialist medical equipment to help make my life a little easier.
Thank you for helping me. Oscar xx
