Some years ago, My Grandad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia and life has never felt right since. 

Living away from home means visits home once every few months and on these occasions, Grandad would remember who I am or he wouldn't. I grew up hearing his stories when he went out to sea and those memories fading away breaks my heart.

Seeing the frustration in his eyes as well as my Nana's, who is essentially his carer. Dementia is a silent presence in some peoples lives and it can turn life upside down. It is something that I would never wish on anyone nor for anyone to experience. 

As a degenerative illness, things are only going to get worse and I can't stand by and let that continue. Whether I raise £10 or £1010, I will take comfort in knowing that I tried and contributed towards finding a solution to this horrible illness.
