Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

From 18-27 August 2017, I will be cycling 2000 km; that is 200 km a day for 10 days; no rest days; no mechanised assistance or support. I am not riding through glamorous scenery nor exotic mountains. Instead, I am riding from my home to Cambridge and back; ten times, day after day, on my tod. 

Ten days of riding through the inspiring landscape of North East London and then through the rural lanes of outer suburbia before emerging into Cambridge and then turning round and riding back on the same route.

Why on earth? 

Beacuse I am about to turn 60 and want to prove that I can still push myself to my limits. Because, by riding the same route day after day, I can guage my body's reaction to prolonged torture. Because it is there. Because it is hugely simpler than engaging in the logistics of planning an exotic ride. Because I can help to raise money for a really deserving cause. Because, why not?

Why alone?

Because no one will ride with me (well they might but I haven't asked.) Because it means I can ride at my own pace, not pushing to keep up or waiting for others. Because it leaves me alone with my thoughts. Because it is a true test of my capabilities with no drafting or assistance. Because it makes the psychological challenge every bit as demanding as the physical one. 

I will be setting up a blog to record my ride and will place the link here as soon as I do. 

I know we call have numerous requests for generosity. Any support you can give me would be hugely appreciated. PACE is a great cause and your support will mean a lot to the kids and the dedicated staff who work there and will also spur me on in those dark moments somewhere in Hertfordshire or Essex when the rain is lashing down, the headwind against me and my ageing and obese body revolts against the suffering imposed upon it.
