Story
As a band of proud North Easterners, with a little dash of Chilean exoticism thrown in for good measure, we couldn't think of a better charity to pound the streets of Newcastle in aide of, than the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation.
Created by Sir Graham (our very own top man and owner here at Close House) to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people across his home region of the North East of England, it's a cause close to all of our hearts. Helping projects like the Teenage Cancer Trust and Nordoff Robbins music therapy, the Foundation really does make a difference here in this patch of land we all call home.
On top of all that we're running in celebration of 40 years (rolled over from last years cancelled event) of the legendary GNR as well as the birth of Sage, the business that Sir Graham founded all those years ago as a budding entrepreneur. Two amazing organisations that have put the North East on the map for so many reasons.
Team Close House might not quite live up to our 'racers' status, but what we lack in speed we certainly make up for in enthusiasm and effort! We range from a GNR virgin to 'allegedly' the fastest Chilean to finish the race, and various abilities in between.
It has been such a tough year for so many people and we feel fortunate to be part of something that we know really makes a difference. We would be over the moon with any donation, big or small, for this local charity that aims to leave a lasting positive legacy across the North East for generations to come.
See you at the finish line, we'll be the ones drinking the Chilean merlot!
