Story
Both my Mother and Brother have passed away due to cancer. By 2020, 1 in 2 of us will get cancer. Unfortunately my family lives up to this statistic. The Irish Cancer Scoeity is working towards stopping this via research and education.
Every hour in Ireland someone dies from cancer. Not many people know but the Irish Cancer Society provides Night Nurses to families who have a loved one at home receiving end of life care. Families are gifted with 10 nights with a pallative trained Night Nurse.
This is not a government funded scheme. It relies solely on donations from daffodil day and fundraising. Without it, many patients in our communities would be forced into a Hospice which would go against their autonomy and ultimately their last wishes.
These nurses are absolute heros. They gave family rest, elevate stress and give crucial care to their loved ones and allowing them to pass with respect and dignity in the home they built themselves.
Please support my attempt at finishing the London marathon. I am paying for all entry fees and costs myself so monies raised will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society. Please help stop this non discrimative disease and support patients and their families whos lives it disrupts
