We give special holidays to ill children to create lasting happy memories

Story

Buntingford Cougars celebrates it's 50th Anniversary in September 2021. As part of the celebrations Cougars will be holding a sponsored walk to raise money for charity. The club has a long history of sponsored walks and we thought it was the perfect way to see in this anniversary.

We wanted to ensure that we got the right charity to raise money for. One that is local and involved with children. So, in our minds there was only one choice - The Lynsey Ivison Trust.

On the 5th September, all our age groups will be completing laps of a sponsored walk around Buntingford. The laps are 1.8 miles in distance with older children walking three loops and younger age groups two or one. The walk will finish at the Bury, the home of the Cougars for a suitable celebratory afternoon. We look forward to seeing our many members proudly walking through the town in their new kits to raise money for a wonderful charity.

The Lynsey Ivison Trust has been running for 30 years and their aim is to raise money so that they are able to offer families with children that have life threatening illnesses holidays to make memories they can cherish forever.

They currently offer families either a break at Centre Parcs, a stay in their own caravan that is located at Hopton Haven in Norfolk or a day at their beach hut in Frinton.

These breaks allow families to have a bit of down time away from treatment, hospitals and completely relax and switch off from the hard times that they have been going through. And simply to have much needed family time together.

Without fundraisers and donations none of this would be possible so they are truly grateful for every penny that gets donated.

Their inspiration is the short life and sad passing of a singularly bright and courageous young girl called Lynsey Ivison. Diagnosed with cancer at the age of nine, Lynsey had no illusions about the seriousness of her illness; nevertheless she was determined that life should go on as normally as possible and her family and friends should not feel sad.

Throughout her arduous treatment she persevered with her passions - dancing, swimming and family cycle rides as well as her studies.

If applicable, please add the name(s) and age group(s) of the child/children you are sponsoring to make it that bit more personalised!
