Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Disability Initiative is a specialist charity based in the South East Region. We support approximately 100 disabled adults and their informal carers. All of our clients have a physical disability or an acquired brain injury.

DI provides a range of activities and programmes from its purpose-built Resource Centres in Camberley, Surrey and Fleet, Hampshire. We aim to support our clients to live life to the full and to enable them to achieve their goals, no matter how large or small. For example, we work with a local boxing gym, to provide non-contact boxing sessions to help our clients develop confidence and co-ordination. We run Yoga, Pilates and Tai-Chi sessions to encourage movement, improve posture and relaxation. We help develop independent living skills and facilitate access to the local community to increase social inclusion and reduce isolation. Using specialist equipment such as our highly versatile and multi-position Genie sit to stand wheelchair and Motomed static exercise cycles, clients are able to exercise to improve their overall well-being.

Without fund raising, we wouldn't be able to continue to offer these life changing opportunities to our existing and future clients.

Disability doesn't discriminate, it can happen to any one of us at any time!
