So why am I taking on these challenges?

In 2008 my wife gave birth to our first child, Harry. He was born 10 weeks and 2 days prem. Our local hospital didn't have the facilities to deal with such a prem baby so my wife gave birth in James Cook's neonatal unit. He spent only 5 days there before being transferred to South Shields SCBU, however, the care he received over those 5 days was incredible. They are such a devoted staff. Harry, along with several other tiny fragile babies, was monitored 24-7. Being first time parents it could have been so much scarier than it actually was but the staff were excellent with us too, supporting us and constantly communicating with us, getting us involved in simple things such as cleaning and changing him.

I strongly believe that without this exceptional level of care and expertise then babies such as Harry would not live to tell the tale.

I know for some that there is no happy ending which makes me determined to give something back to the hospital, not only for all they did for Harry and us his parents but for all they continue to do, day in,day out to care for these tiny lives. So all I ask is for you to donate whatever you can to this amazing cause.
