The Hackney Half may have been cancelled, but I will JOG ON on May 17th! 

In (arguably splendid) isolation, I will stagger around Hyde Park 2.6 times - to join the national 2.6 Challenge.  

Being pregnant I will of course be extra-cautious about social distancing and following government guidelines.

It would mean such a lot if you could support me, either by helping me to reach my £1200 target - enough to fund a fully inclusive university scholarship in Malawi for one year.  That includes tuition fees, accommodation, meals, medical care, work experience placement and a laptop.

Rare Charity  funds secondary and tertiary educational scholarships in tea communities.  

The people working in tea represent some of the most marginalised communities in many of the world’s poorest countries. 

We aim to create a cohort of qualified professionals equipped to transform their community in their own ways and on their own terms.

We currently work in tea communities in Malawi, which holds the lowest enrolment rate for tertiary education in the world.

The global COVID-19 crisis has exposed just how desperate the need for qualified professionals in Malawi really is. At the time of writing:

• There are almost 20 million people in Malawi, but only 600 registered doctors
• Malawi has fewer than 20 ventilators 
• Lower respiratory disorders are already the third largest cause of death among Malawians
