Story

I have decided after much persuasion from my kids to climb Mt Snowdon again this year but this time all four of my kids will be aiming to complete this challenge with me. This is a tough challenge on its own but for me made so much harder due to my health problems. For anyone who doesn’t know I have been fighting an incurable  cancer for over two years now and have had set back after set back to deal with. The way I look at it though is a set back is a set up for a comeback so I continue to fight. My kids are my world and the thought of not being able to see them grow up is the reason I will never quit. I have faced intense chemotherapy, radiotherapy and countless surgeries over the past few years yet still hold my head up, continue to work and concentrate on being the best Dad I can be. Last year I completed this challenge with my daughter Charlee and am so proud that Hallie, Amelia and Elias will all be there too this time. It’s my way of creating memories that my children will never forget. The reason we have chosen the RNOH charity is because this hospital has been incredible at keeping me alive. At the age of 13 years old I had major spinal surgery at RNOH which if not successful could of seen me in a wheelchair but it worked and I fought back . In my twenties they repaired my knee using stem cell growth which again. If not successful could of left me unable to walk , once again I fought back. Then over the last two years  the hospital has been responsible for 6 operations on my cancer which have not been easy and have left me with physical damage to my chest that will never repair but like many times before I won’t quit and work hard to get back on my feet as quick as I can and back to normality until the next time . My treatment at RNOH is unbelievable and they make me feel like I am their only patient . In the near future I know I will be needing their services again as the cancer on my spine now could end up being the biggest operation I have faced but if they decide it to be possible I have faith in them. None of my treatment would of been available without the funding from the charity and I owe my life to the people who work at RNOH. On May the 18th my kids and I will complete this challenge and I will be recording the day on film and taking as many photos as I can as a very proud father. What makes the day complete is my partner Tracey and my Mum and Dad will be using the mountain railway to get to the top so they can greet us upon completion. I don’t expect huge amounts but anything you can donate will be going to an incredible cause and go a long way to helping people in my situation and make a real difference to people’s lives. It will also give my kids an extra incentive and help them feel a sense of pride that they are doing what they can to help their dad . Thank you so much for reading x
