Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the middle of September I cycled the Cent Cols
Challenge in the alps. Have a look at the route on the website
(www.centcolschallenge.com). Over
10days, I covered 2061km and climbed 40,600m of vertical ascent in a total cycling time of just under 82hrs.
I trained hard to achieve this personal challenge. However, throughout the ride I had the memory of the guys who took part in the H4H ride last year with limbs damaged or missing, or even blinded. Every week we hear of more soldiers being killed in Afghanistan, what we don't hear about is the large number of seriously wounded soldiers who are returned to the UK with their lives irrevocably changed. Their personal challenge from the moment of injury onwards made my little heel injury pale in to insignificance - especially as I knew this would sort itself out if left.
Please support them by donating as much or as little as you can afford. H4H has made a huge difference to the guys already - the swimming pool at Headley will soon be open; the families are well met in Birmingham when the soldiers first return; combat stress is being supported with new premises and the fantastic BattleBack initiative is funded through H4H - have a look at the website.
